Our Beautiful Broccoli comes from the Southern Forests region; Manjimup, Pemberton, Northcliffe areas in the South West of Western Australia. Our broccoli at Western Growers Fresh is brought directly to us from these farms by Southern Forest Produce business owner Anthony East. You could only get it fresher if you grow it yourself.

Did you know that you can eat the stem and leaves as well as the florets, which is the only part most people use?

  • The stems are delicious diced and steamed served with melted butter or a splash of sour cream and salt and pepper. The stem can also be used in soups or a gratin.
  • The leaves can be finely cut and added to frittata or stir fries.

Recipe idea:

Rinse your broccoli and cut into 5 cm  length good size pieces including the florets and stem. Peel the stalk, trim off woody bits and cut into fingers. Put the cut broccoli into a baking tray and drizzle with Arthur’s Grove Extra virgin olive oil, toss to cover the broccoli and sprinkle with 2 teaspoons of Spice Fetish Kashmiri spice mix. Roast in a preheated moderate oven for 15 minutes and serve with your favourite protein.

Broccoli is well known as a superfood and is a versatile vegetable that you can eat every day. Broccoli contains high levels of  vitamins K and C, a good source of folate (folic acid) and also provides your body with potassium and fibre. Vitamin C,  builds collagen in your body, which forms body tissue and bone, and also helps to heal cuts and wounds. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and helps build the immune system.
