WA FRESH PRODUCE RETAILER OF THE YEAR 2021 – REGIONAL STORE.

WESTERN GROWERS FRESH – Busselton

From a field of over 240 nominations, Western Growers Fresh Busselton was awarded the honour as WA Fresh Produce Retailer of the year 2021 – regional store, in front of a crowd of over 580 guests at the MarketWest, Perth Markets, annual award night on Friday 8th October.

The Busselton fresh food market opened its doors just 2.5 years ago, with an ethos of showcasing the bountiful local produce and locally made foods of the region and within a 300km radius. The founders of the immaculately presented shop are Mick Chitty and Sonja Mitchell who saw the opportunity to offer the Busselton community a Busselton Farmers Market retail store open 7 days a week, filled with local fresh fruit, veg, local meat and seafood, honeys, preserves, confectionary, baked goods and affordable ready-made wholesome take away meals. The Busselton market shop offers hundreds of local suppliers a local retail outlet for a wide range of goods and has a commercial kitchen making healthy take-away meals using local ingredients.

The MarketWest award is judged from 3 Mystery Shopper reports, one a month, with criteria including;

  • Internal and External appearance
  • Ease of access and shopping process in the store.
  • Management of produce quality.
  • Range of seasonal produce
  • Customer focus and services.
  • Commercial integrity of the business to its suppliers.

“We are over the moon with this award” said Sonja, “It belongs to our team, who are loyal, hard-working and passionate about our local produce”.

Mick commented, “our shop is for the Busselton community and we see it as a local hub to celebrate the efforts of our local suppliers, who are amongst the best in the world.”

Located on the corner of the Bussell Bypass and Causeway Road, Western Growers Fresh offers easy access and plentiful parking at the rear of the building, including shady trees and room for trailers and RVs.
